چکیده

Spread spectrum techniques are often utilized when designing wireless communication systems. The success of a spread spectrum system depends greatly upon the spreading codes employed by the transmitters. In this paper, a novel approach to the generation of spreading codes is examined. In particular, spreading codes are generated as the impulse responses of a multirate subband lter bank. A methodology is presented for designing the lter banks such that the resulting spreading codes have properties which are desirable in a multiuser wireless communications environment. Several examples are given for diierent types of commonly encountered interference sources. Results are then generated which compare the newly developed spreading codes to more traditional spreading techniques.

Improving Long PN-Code Acquisition in the Presence of Doppler Frequency Shifts

Wireless communication is the major form of connection nowadays. In most cases it exploits the benefits of the spread spectrum techniques to overcome channel introduced corruptions like Doppler residual frequency, noise, interference and jamming. These techniques also enhance the security and quality of the link. Using long spreading pseudo-noise codes provides further security for the link tho...

Code-Time Diversity for Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Systems

Time diversity is achieved in direct sequence spread spectrum by receiving different faded delayed copies of the transmitted symbols from different uncorrelated channel paths when the transmission signal bandwidth is greater than the coherence bandwidth of the channel. In this paper, a new time diversity scheme is proposed for spread spectrum systems. It is called code-time diversity. In this n...

Performance of Filter Bank-Based Spreading Codes for Multipath/Multiuser Interference

Spread Spectrum Communications is a technique in which the transmission bandwidth is much larger than that normally required to transmit at the given data rate. The use of this excess bandwidth provides the system with advantages in the areas of anti-jam communications, high resolution ranging, resistance to multipath fading, and low probability of intercept/detection of the transmissions. The ...

Performance of slotted asynchronous CDMA using controlled time of arrival

A slotted asynchronous (SA) code-divison multipleaccess communication scheme controlling the time of arrival is proposed for distributed spread-spectrum packet radio networks where the transmission range is limited as in an indoor wireless system. In this scheme, each terminal can send its packet randomly at any one of Nw possible time instants, equally spaced over one period of direct-sequence...

Self-Encoded Spread Spectrum Communications

We present a novel spread spectrum communication system for the secured transmission of digital information. The approach is based on the unconventional self-encoding principles that we have developed at the University of Nebraska for the modulation and detection of spread spectrum signals. The proposed system does not use pseudo-random codes, and is unique in that traditional transmit and rece...
